Colorado Cutie

Zoë made her first trek to the mountains during our first family vacation to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. We started her off with a simple yet beautiful "hike" around Sprague Lake.

Zoë enjoyed staring up at all the tall pine trees and then contentedly slept in the carrier most of the way to Nymph and Dream Lakes...and back down again.

Our little hiker, already for her last hike to Alberta Falls

Oh, the wonderful places she has been, and not even 3 months old! Hopefully she'll be a mountain lover like her mamma.

All dolled up for a night out. Zoë is even practicing her point in her new ballet slipper tights. Looks like a little dancer already!

Overall, we had a wonderful trip. Adding an infant into the mix changes the meaning of "vacation,"but it was so wonderful to introduce Zoë to a beautiful part of God's creation and spend time with family. It is hard to imagine that this time next summer she will be walking!

Tummy Time!

With Tchaikovsky, the Turtle (he has flashing buttons with musical instruments and plays lovely classical music!)

Zoë has a strong neck, but still hasn't discovered that her arms can help hold her up. Thanks to the boppy pillow, she had a fun time today looking around at mommy and daddy and being entertained by the flashing musical turtle.

And we even got a smile!

Beach Babe

Check it out! New diva sunglasses from mom and a cute swimming suit from Auntie Gloria

Yeah, we're hot (literally - it was 96º out there! Good thing we now have a sweet beach umbrella)

Oh, the feel of sand between our toes...

An excellent first trip to the beach. Zoë conquered the sand, but the water was too cold to get in. We'll just have to make another trip in late August when (hopefully) it will warm up.

A few of my favorite things...

The swing is a favorite napping spot, as well as a good place to coo at the dragonfly and turtle on the mobile while mommy and daddy are trying to eat dinner. And it has nice "zen" music, too!

You can't forget the binky/pacifier/soothie/bobba...whatever you want to call it. Anytime, anywhere, it's a fave. Although, Zoë has started to find replacements - her fist or mommy's finger seem to please her just as well. :)

A new favorite - The high chair! I put her in this morning for the first time to try a new bottle feeding position. She didn't so much like the bottle part, but she loved being in the chair! So, I just let her coo and giggle and kick in her new stationary seat in the kitchen, so she could keep an eye on mommy making lunch.

New Discoveries

In the past week, Zoë has discovered her tongue. And now, she likes to stick it out all the time and lick anything in sight - her hand, the baby carrier strap, my shirt, and yes, even the elephant's trunk!

The other thing she has discovered is her mad skills as an escape artist. With her strong arms and wiggly legs, she has found ways to escape the tightest swaddle, repeatedly. No more swaddle for my little Houdini!

Daddy's Little Girl

Happy 1st Father's Day! Zoë had a special gift for daddy.

Another one of Zoë's favorite places - daddy's tummy. It's great for chatting away, checking out the world, and, as you can see, taking a good nap!

Two months and counting

Her favorite place - the changing table. Zoë gets very happy and talkative whenever she gets laid here. She just loves diaper-changing time!

See that cute little smile? :)

For our 4th of July Celebration, we bought a little kiddie pool and Zoë had her first outdoor bath. She seemed to like it for awhile, but when she got tired of sitting there in water, she made sure to let us know.
