The Great Northern Getaway

This past weekend we were able to take a short trip up to northern Michigan with Grandma Didi and Auntie Judy. We stayed by the Lake in Charlevoix and spent a cold and blustery (but fun!) day on Mackinac Island.

Zoë's first ferry ride! Q-u-i-t-e exciting. We caught a little air going over those big waves. Daddy wasn't so thrilled...

...but we made it. Scarves and all.

All bundled up and ready to ride

One of the neat things about Mackinac Island is that motor vehicles are not an acceptable mode of transportation, so bikes and horses rule the roadway. The other neat thing about the Island is that there are 15 fudge shops downtown. Yum!

So beautiful!

Ready for our tour on a horse-drawn carriage

Family photo time!

After a long day, our little explorer was
all tuckered out. Time to go!

Back in Charlevoix with cool matching
sweatshirts as a nice souvenir.
