Happy 1st Birthday!

One year ago today, we brought this little bundle into the world – with eager excitement, naïve romanticism (common to first-time parents), breathless awe and genuine joy.

Born May 7th, 2011

 Here we are today, survivors of sleepless nights, exasperation and frustration, jaded with reality, but happier than we have ever been in our entire lives! And, wow, what a year it has been. This tiny little baby has grown into a little girl right before our eyes, and has filled our mouths with laughter and our hearts with joy. Zoë, you are so precious to us, and we thank God every day for bringing you into our lives. What an incredible gift of life you are!  Happy, happy birthday! We are so glad you were born. :)

Such a big girl!!

On Sunday afternoon, we celebrated Zoë’s birthday and daddy’s graduation with a big ice cream sundae party. Though the weather did not cooperate with my dreams of a lovely backyard event, we managed to spruce up our home and fit everyone inside.

What a fun party! Lots and lots of friends and family, and Zoë had her very first sweet treat - ice cream and sprinkles! 

As you can see, they didn't hit it off too well at first, but I think they will be great friends. :)

This is one super cute party pooper - so much partying wore her plum out. :)
